Instead of worrying too much about "initial depth of cut" why not take a reasonable cut (you can judge this by eye well enough), use the three wires at that point to determine the pitch diameter at that point and then just subtract the required pitch diameter limits from it and halve them to give you the depth of cut limits from there for the limits of the pitch circle from there. This "depth of cut" business has a few problems with it.īoth the outside diameter and the pitch diameter have limits that must be worked to/within. I've not tried it on my windows computer yet. You did not specify if you want the straight in feed (cross slide) or the 29/30 degree feed (compound) so I will give you both. I am assuming you want this for 60 degree Vee threads.
